Natural and organic cosmetics market rebounds with rapid growth in Asia

The natural and organic cosmetics market is rebounding towards USD 14 billion, driven by consumer demand, certification growth, and expanded distribution channels.

The market for natural and organic cosmetics is projected to approach USD 14 billion, according to recent findings from Ecovia Intelligence.

After experiencing a period of decline due to the pandemic and geopolitical issues, growth is now on the rebound.

Market Leadership and Regional Insights

North America and Europe are currently the dominant regions in this sector, together accounting for over 80% of total sales.

The United States remains a leader, with natural and organic items constituting 4.7% of its overall cosmetic sales.

Notably, Asia is witnessing the fastest growth, primarily fueled by an increase in product launches.

Both established companies and newcomers in the industry are enhancing the market with their innovative natural and organic product offerings.

Certification and Consumer Awareness

The significance of certification within this sector is increasing, with more than 30 established global standards.

Two of the most widely recognized certifications, COSMOS and NATRUE, show particularly high adoption rates in Europe, where France and Germany lead in the proportion of certified products.

Currently, around 26% of all natural and organic cosmetics sold globally hold certification.

Ecovia Intelligence anticipates that this trend of market expansion will persist, largely driven by rising consumer awareness regarding the health hazards linked to synthetic chemicals such as parabens and mineral oils.

As a result, more consumers are choosing natural and organic alternatives.

Distribution Channel Expansion

In addition to heightened consumer interest, the expansion of distribution channels is playing a significant role in the market’s growth trajectory.

While natural and organic products remain primarily found in specialized food retailers, their availability is on the rise in pharmacies, department stores, drugstores, and beauty shops.

Some brands are also venturing into non-traditional retail spaces like hair salons and beauty centers to enhance their market presence.
